Job Description

Overview The Bob Keppel Criminal Justice Division (CRJ) of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office has an exciting and rewarding opportunity in its downtown Seattle office for an attorney interested in investigating and prosecuting financial crimes. The Financial Crimes Team investigates and prosecutes a wide variety of cases including wage theft, identity theft, complex fraud, elder fraud and crimes committed by government employees and public officials. We seek an attorney with significant litigation experience to combat fraud in Washington. The selected candidate will work closely with senior AGO investigators, as well as state agencies and state, local and federal law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute financial crimes. While the primary focus of this position is prosecuting financial crimes, the selected candidate should be proficient in prosecuting a full range of crimes. To serve as an Assistant Attorney General, one must have graduated from a law school accredited by the ABA or completed the WSBA\'s Rule 6 Law Clerk Program; and be licensed to practice law in Washington state. Preferred qualifications At least three years of trial experience and trial practice in criminal law; Exceptional legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills; Strong interpersonal skills that promote a collegial, inclusive and respectful workplace; Demonstrated good judgment when exercising discretion in criminal cases; The ability to work independently and in a variety of settings; Commitment to public service and justice for victims of crime; and Admission to practice law in Washington state courts. The salary range is set between $82,212 and $153,996 and may include King County Assignment Pay where applicable.
